The Scherfs Wandering Wheels
Rolling Home
Hi, we’re Andrew and Loralee Scherf and this year we will be celebrating our 31th anniversary. We started traveling in a tent with our kids when they were young. Boy I don’t miss those days of tent camping, but every family should start out with a tent. We than graduated to a pop-up trailer a few years later that we used for 15 years as they grew up. We traveled all over the western United States and gave our children a love of travel and so many memories. Before you know it, our youngest was leaving for college and my husband and I needed to reconnect. In 2021, we sold our trailer on FB market and then bought a gently used Gulf Stream Vintage Cruiser. Now we travel full time in our Keystone Cougar 2100 RK and absolutly love it.
The Path Less Paved
We were going out once a month and loving it. In 2022 we experienced our first Round up or rally (a gathering of same trailers) and loved meeting new people that shared a common interest. After the meet up, we were sitting in Sedona Az he approached me with the subject of going full time. Of course I didn’t believe him. He had a full time job but working remotely thanks to COVID and I was working as a teacher on special assignment. Well of course after talking through it I was very excited but not too excited because I didn’t want my dreams to be crushed. In a matter of 4 months, Andrew secured a permeant job within his company to stay working remotely, we packed up 25 years worth of our lives, remodeled our floors while the house was empty, and moved out and into our 19 ft. cruiser. Our son and his new wife moved in on top of us moving out just days before their wedding. I don’t recommend doing all this at the same time. I finished my contract in December of 22 and we hit the road in January of 23.
